Superdrug shoppers have been rushing to buy a new retinol serum that apparently is so good it makes ‘skin look brighter’ and more ‘glowy’ than usual.
The Optimum Retinol Serum 30ml has a price tag of £7.49, with it originally being £14.99 however it’s been reduced in the latest sales. It’s so far amassed an overall approval rating of 4.5 stars with 91 reviews giving 5* recommendations.
The product description reads: “Featuring the highest level of RETINYL PALMITATE (0.4%) in the Optimum Retinol Range, this light textured serum is supercharged with additional Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) to help improve the appearance of skin and uneven skin tone.

“Includes ENCAPSULATED RETINYL PALMITATE (2%) for optimal delivery and reduced potential for irritation and green seaweed, Tulsi and Lady's Thistle help to calm and restore skin barrier function.”
Many buyers who have managed to get their hands on the product have already been raving about it. One person said: “I bought this when the ordinary retinoids were out of stock and I really like it. I quite like the smell, I think it’s sweet and herby. I feel like it made an improvement to my acne and made my skin look brighter.”
A second person commented: “First time using anything like this and I can say I'm very impressed! Easy to apply, leaves skin feeling so soft, I have some sensitive areas on my face but with this serum I've not had any irritation. Definitely be using this again, very happy with the result!”

A third typed: “I was looking for a serum containing retinol and came across this on special offer. It absorbs into the skin well and smells lovely. I’ve only been using it a couple of weeks but I can see a slight reduction in wrinkles and my skin looks healthier. Very pleased with this purchase.”
However, not everyone was a huge fan. One buyer who left a 1* review said: “I waited a month so I could write a review about any improvements...sadly there isn't any. My skin isn't any tighter and no change to my wrinkles, in fact the wrinkles under my eyes seemed MORE visible, so I stopped using it in that area!”
Another chimed in: “Have been using this for a few months now, don't really feel much difference, but I like the way it feels on. It feels more like a light cream than a serum, but it's not too heavy. Has a pleasant smell too. I will continue to use and see if there are any results.”
You can buy the serum from Superdrug.
